Prong at Pukkelpop Belgium

Stage: Marquee
Date: Friday August 23
Time: 07:20 - 08:10 pm local time Belgium

Stageact

We were a little bit surprised when Prong was added to the festival. Didn’t they bury this band ten years ago? In a nostalgic mood we went through the mud towards Marquee (one of the venues on the terrain) to check frontman Tommy Victor and his new friends out. And hell it was good!! A dozen of hardcore-cuts from the time when desertrock was still in its diapers (including a new song, "Initiation"), was enough to teach the young people where Korn and Kyuss get their inflammable inspiration ...

Highlight

Sooner that day Sick Of It All pointed their audience to Prongs place in the 'Hardcore Hall Of Fame' and encouraged them to go to see the godfathers. To return this favour Tommy Victor thanked the audience with playing "Disbelief", 'the first song of our first album'. Nice to see mutual gratitude.

Specialties

Looking at the tshirts of the people in the front resulted in a flash back to the scene 10 years ago: Helmet, Suicidal Tendencies, Sepultura, Barkmarket, Napalm Death, Danzig ... and ofcourse Prong.

Reaction from the crowd

The really young people were trying to get a good spot at the mainstage to see Korn, so the Marquee was filled with older - but delighted and rockin’ - youth. Their enthusiastic call for more after ending last song "Disbelief" even pursuaded the band for an encore.

Our opinion

They who thought that Prong 2002 belonged to (the not existing (both names are jokes)) Pukkelpop Classic or FurrowRockHerk have to reconsider their opinion. The overwhelming show left a great deal of the youngsters astonished. It was the best visiting card to give in regard to the release of the forthcoming live-album.
